MixAbilities gets a boost from Ontario Arts Council

H’art Centre can now develop our capacity to market the MixAbilities Inclusive Arts Training program to a wider group of users thanks to a grant from the Ontario Arts Council’s Market Development Project.

The Ontario Arts Council’s Market Development Project supports Ontario artists, arts professionals, ad hoc groups/collectives and arts organizations to promote their artwork to arts presenters in order to develop and expand geographic or demographic markets for their artwork.

MixAbilities is H’art Centre’s new inclusive arts training program that helps artists and arts educators to effectively and empathetically create inclusive arts workshops for people who are Deaf or who have disabilities. We currently offer the training program to all our volunteers, visiting artists, and artist-facilitators who take part in our activities at the Centre.

Thanks to this grant, H’art Centre can now engage mentors who will help us learn more about the specific needs for this type of training in the broader fields of arts, education, therapeutic recreation, municipal arts and culture, arts associations, and more. With this information, we will be able to prepare market research material which will help us adapt MixAbilities in a way that will effectively share our expertise with a wider market.

We would like to acknowledge funding support from the Ontario Arts Council, an agency of the Government of Ontario.
