Able Artists presents Reel Comfort: Community Health & Engagement Through Film

Feb 28, 2017 | Uncategorized

We are pleased to announce the Able Artists series will present an interactive workshop called Reel Comfort: Community Health & Engagement Through Film  to be delivered by Elysse Leonard, the Coordinator of the Reel Comfort programme at the Toronto International Film Festival.

“If you are interested in film, film-making, mental health, community arts, volunteerism, or simply, improving your community through the arts, this should not be missed,” said Tracy Ryan, Marketing Manager at H’art Centre.

Leonard will present an interactive session that will provide a glimpse of TIFF’s Reel Comfort, a community outreach initiative that connects mental health clients and service providers to film via facilitated screenings and film-craft workshops. The session will include a screening of short films shown in and created through the programme as well as a discussion of best practices for replicating this work in our own community.

Three easy ways to register:  Call 613-545-1392, email us, or register online through Eventbrite by clicking here.

This workshop is free thanks to the City of Kingston Arts Fund and its generous sponsorship of the 2017 Able Artists series.

As a not-for-profit, charitable arts organization that serves people with disability and those facing barriers to participation in the arts, H’art Centre is committed to inspiring the next generation of inclusive arts facilitators through professional development workshops and our Able Artists series.
