H’art Centre is pleased to present the “Face and Body” drama workshop, led by Elizabeth Morris, who is a professional Deaf actor. In this workshop, we will learn how to use JUST our facial expressions and body language, to tell a story. No need to use a verbal or visual language to tell a story! Are you ready for this fun challenge? Come and challenge yourself with a group of new adult learners just like yourself. There will be hands-on drama activities with visual cues. We gratefully acknowledge the Anna & Edward C. Churchill Foundation, the Kingston Arts Council and the City of Kingston Arts Fund for supporting the 2015 Able Artists series.

About Elizabeth Morris
Elizabeth is a professional actor and a full member of ACTRA and the Canadian Actors’ Equity Association. Also, she is an American Sign Language (ASL) Coach and Deaf Community Consultant for theatre/film.
She has lived in England, Japan, USA, and Canada. Currently, she lives in Ontario, Canada. Her career as an actor has taken her around the globe (Japan, Australia, Romania, South Africa, Mexico, USA, and Canada). She was involved with a tour theatre company called, “Quest for Arts,” in Washington, D.C. and the “National Theater of the Deaf,” in Hartford, CT.
In Canada, Elizabeth has been in a Campbell soup commercial and was part of a CBC radio documentary based on her family (a hard of hearing brother, a deaf/autistic brother, and a hearing sister). She was also the ASL narrator for Luis Jacobs’ artwork. Also, was involved in Natasha Nicholson’s photo shoot for a project on accessibility.
She has also worked on productions at the Lorraine Kimsa Theatre for Young People in Toronto. She was both a performer and the American Sign Language consultant for a production of “Bird Brain” and the ASL consultant for “Love You Forever and More…” based on Robert Munsch’s books. That production won the ‘Dora Mavor Moore- Outstanding Production award in Canada.
Recently, she was an ASL coach for an episode of a Television show called, “Flashpoint.”
Currently, Elizabeth is part of a group of Canada’s Shakespeare Link who are working on a production of “Romeo and Juliet” which will include both Deaf and hearing actors. The production will use both American Sign Language and spoken English.
