Daniel Chalmers

Studio Percussionist

Daniel Chalmers is a professional live touring and studio percussionist with over 12 years of experience.

He has been returning to H’art Centre since 2014 to lead music workshops. In 2015, he collaborated with H’art Studio artists on the Baboo project, an original production based on the life of Sir John A. Macdonald’s daughter, Mary. In 2020, he completed the Royal Conservatory’s online course “A Taste of Elementary Music the Orff Way’, an overview of the Orff philosophy, media, and teaching strategies through engaging, classroom-ready activities, in order to facilitate a session here.

His work reflects his commitment to community arts, for instance, he helped introduce a program called “Rising Artists” at Kingston Community Health Centre (KCHC). The Rising Artists summer program provided an opportunity for kids to unleash their creativity through regular Drumming and Hip Hop Dance Classes.

He received a diploma in Social Service Work from St. Lawrence College in 2009. That same year, he received the CNIB Book Award for displaying a caring, supportive, and sensitive attitude towards those with disabilities.

H’art Centre is located below Good Life Fitness. The building’s main entrance is off of Barrack Street. Wheelchair access and audience access to THE BOX inclusive performing arts space is available through the entrance on Wellington Street.
