Baboo: Missing in History

Baboo project will feature puppetry

The Ontario Arts Council is supporting our research on the largely unknown life of Sir. John A. MacDonald’s daughter Mary who was born with hydrocephalus. His daughter, who he affectionately called “Baboo”, has a story to tell and H’art participants will bring it to life.

While completing the research and development, we will also be learning about international puppet styles and puppeteering with Annie Milne, a professional puppeteer, script writer, director, designer and builder of sets and puppets.

Our goal is to write and perform our own play illuminating Baboo’s life in recognition of the 200th birthday celebrations of Sir John A. MacDonald and to ensure people with disabilities are reflected in celebrations of the past.
