Dance and Accessible Arts Outreach

Amy Booth is a registered Physiotherapist (MScPT Queen’s University), with a keen interest and expertise in delivering movement classes to individuals with neurological disorders and Dementia. She has an extensive dance background and has performed professionally with Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet Company and with a touring company in the UK. She has a 3 year Dance Teaching Diploma from Canada’s National Ballet School (NBS TTP-dip) and currently teaches dancers of all ages in the Kingston community. She has completed introductory and advanced training with David Leventhal and Sarah Robichaud in the Dance for PD® training program and developed Kingston’s first dance for Parkinson’s class. In 2017, Amy completed an intensive course: “Teaching Dance to older adults with Dementia” through Baycrest and NBS which has provided her with an evidence based framework on which she bases her classes with seniors in Long Term Care Homes. She recently participated in the National Symposium for Dance Therapy in Montreal, Quebec and looks forward to continuing to share dance with individuals of all ages and abilities. Amy is also CPR certified at the health care provider level.
