Justin Hines Joins Stellar Speaker Line Up

H’art School is pleased to announce award-winning singer/songwriter Justin Hines has joined the Able Artists 2012 speaker lineup.

Justin HinesThanks to the Ontario Arts Council, H’art School will once again host the Able Artists forum on Wednesday, November 21st from 6-8  p.m. at Memorial Hall, Kingston City Hall. And it is shaping up to be an inspiring night!
Award-winning singer/songwriter Justin Hines is the latest addition to the speaker lineup. Through his career, Hines has recorded three albums, received a Gemini award nomination, and performed at both the Beijing and Vancouver Olympics. Hines was born with rare Larsen’s Syndrome, a congenital joint condition that confines him to a wheelchair. 
Able Artists is a forum designed to put the spotlight on the work and stories of professional artists with disabilities. Through this spotlight, the forum aims to raise awareness of the value of the arts to the community and to foster creative collaboration in Kingston. 
This forum is for anyone who cares about inclusion and creating change in Kingston. Discover what the arts can do for you, your organization, and the people you serve. Join us for an evening of brief, carefully prepared talks and demonstrations by professional artists with disability! Then, stick around for designer cupcakes, coffee and compelling conversation!
 
OUR SPEAKERS
 
This year’s line up includes:  award-winning singer/songwriter Justin Hines, Renata Soutter, co-director of Ottawa’s Propeller Dance, an organization providing dance programming to children, youth and adults with and without disability; Charlotte Colin of Montreal’s Les Production des Pieds des Mains, an integrated ballet group; artist Melissa Addison-Webster, a media artist and associate of Toronto’s Picasso Pro, a group that focuses on the integration of artists with disabilities and Deaf artists in the performing and media arts; Barb Macdougall, a Kingston musician born without sight; Don King, the co-founder of Different Strokes Art Group in Kingston; and 1000 Islands theatre director Kathyrn MacKay who has over 10 years experience working with H’art School and who is now the artistic director of The Box at H’art School.
