Kingston, ON – In 2021, H’art Centre received a $42,300 grant from the Government of Ontario’s Community Building Fund – Operating stream. This grant, delivered by the Ontario Trillium Foundation, will allow H’art Centre to hire staff, continue operating its facility, and upgrade its technology for the delivery of online and in-person programs.

“Congratulations to the H’art Centre for receiving this Community Building Fund grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation! I am happy to hear that they will be using these funds to assist in increasing their accessibility during this challenging time for the arts,” said Kingston and the Islands MPP Ian Arthur. “I want to thank them for their continuing mission to allow everyone to experience and participate in the joy that the arts can bring and for their amazing contributions to Kingston and the Islands. Thank you to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for this grant and I can’t wait to see what the H’art Centre does next.”

As vaccination rates increase, H’art Centre has seen renewed interest in its on-site programs. This grant will enable the organization to staff its on-site workshop-studio spaces and re-engage volunteers through community outreach and promotion. H’art Centre will also use the funds to maintain and expand its online program offerings for those still participating from home.

“The last 20 months have been a time of unprecedented challenges for everyone,” said Katherine Porter, Executive Director at H’art Centre. “We truly appreciate this support from the Community Building Fund. With this grant, we can ensure all people continue to experience meaningful participation in the arts and work toward a better future filled with creativity and purpose.”

H’art Centre is an award-winning registered not-for-profit, charitable community arts hub that provides artists with disabilities and those facing barriers with opportunities to create, study and produce works in the arts and collaborate with qualified, trained community artists.
