When the world shuts down, Artists Connect!

From January to March, the “Artist Connect” project brought artists from across Canada together to talk about making art in the digital world. Artist Connect was presented by Ottawa’s BEING Studio, in partnership with H’art Centre (Kingston), The Space (Ottawa), National accessArts Centre (Calgary), the Nina Haggerty Centre (Edmonton), and Propeller Dance (Ottawa).

It was a chance to hear from guest artists, learn digital tools, spark new friendships, and participate in discussions with fellow artists from across the country. H’art Studio staff and artists joined Zoom sessions offered two or three events each week.

Here is some feedback from some H’art Studio artists who took part:

Amanda: “I really enjoyed Artists Connect because I was inspired by all the other artists’ work. It was a great opportunity to show my artwork and wonderful to meet all the amazing artists.

Paul: “I was proud to be part of the presentation with Amanda and Nathan and share artwork. The wrap-up party was so much fun! Thank you for this opportunity.”

Nathan: “I loved working with H’art and BEING Studio and I found the experience really empowering and it was a joy to meet all these sensational artists that I would not have been able to meet otherwise, as well as meet all the participants in the community. Love you all!”
