This week, H’art Centre received a boost. The Community Foundation for Kingston and Area announced they will provide a one-time $15,000 operational grant. The funds will support our H’art Studio program in 2021.

“We look forward to the possibility of moving back to a five-day a week schedule and being able to offer workshops to registered participants Mondays through Fridays,” said Katherine Porter, Executive Director of H’art Centre. “It means we can reintroduce postponed projects. H’artists will get to feel the sense of accomplishment they deserved to feel in the spring. It has been a challenging time. It helps to have committed community partners like the Foundation while we recover.”

COVID-19 had a big impact on H’art Studio. Administration postponed Small Things, H’art Studio’s first major dance performance. Programming on-site halted for five months. H’artists and their families lost access to routines and friendships. H’art staff had to ramp up virtual programming. Staggered cohorts of H’artists started the return to the studio in July and September.
