Performance: Getting to Know Father Sky

Join us for a moving presentation that has resulted from the 14-week Getting to Know Father Sky workshop led by a four-time Canadian and American Native Music Award nominee, Eric Voice, in THE BOX. Voice is an Algonquin artist who bridges rock music with an Aboriginal vision. His work has been featured on CBC Television’s MusicWorks, APTN and MuchMusic, and has performed at numerous festivals throughout Ontario.

The program was open to adults and introduced participants to traditional aboriginal symbols, learning techniques, stories, and spiritual family member each week.

In this presentation, participants will characterize their spiritual family as well as Grandfather sun Grandmother moon, Father sky and Mother Earth. Four scenes will be interspersed by the sounds of the hand drum, songs, and poetry. At the end of the performance audience will be asked to participate in round dance!

Duration: Approximately 45 minutes and a 15-minute Q&A
