H’art offers new “Story Signing!” workshop

H’art Centre is thrilled to welcome ASL translator Theresa Upton for Story Signing!  on Thursdays this term.

Theresa will be offering the American Sign Language Story Signing! workshop as part of a larger project that will support the development and writing of a Story Signing Workshopscript by the actor/ASL translator.

The script will incorporate input from members of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing communities.

Our goal is to inspire and educate the wider community about their value of distinct perspectives in the arts and culture sector by ensuring many communities have access and opportunities to create and share.

This process is open to adults who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing who would like to participate. Please contact us if you are interested in taking part.

Theresa Upton has experience as an American Sign Language instructor, consultant and Deaf interpreter. She also does American Sign Language creative writing, American Sign Language storytelling, poetry/poem/music and acting.

We gratefully acknowledge the support of the Community Foundation of Greater Kingston.
