Yessica Rivera Belsham

HAAP! Instructor

Yessica Rivera Belsham is certified in Creative Facilitation, Music Care, and Zumba Latin Inspired Dance Fitness. She has been in a Tahitian/Hawaiian Performance Dance group in Sahuayo de Morelos, Michoacan, Mexico and has taught Pre-hispanic Mesoamerican drum and dance. Yessica is grounded in her Mexican heritage and Pre-Hispanic and Hispanic drumming and dancing. Yessica has taught Zumba at H’art as well as at the Canadian Mental Health Association and now focuses more on ecstatic freespirit dance – movement medicine with global rhythms. Her passion of rhythms, colour, movement are combined in one as she celebrates life with every session in the H’art’s Accessible Arts Program (HAAP!). She has studied at the Ontario College of Art and Design University for Drawing/Painting and is currently studying for her Bachelor of Science in Nursing through the St. Lawrence College/Laurentian University Degree Program. She is known most for running open community drum circles across Kingston and continues to run various series of creative arts, drumming, and dancing workshops with various populations under the umbrella of Circle of Wellness. She strives to make these cathartic experiences accessible to all.

H’art Centre is located below Good Life Fitness. The building’s main entrance is off of Barrack Street. Wheelchair access and audience access to THE BOX inclusive performing arts space is available through the entrance on Wellington Street.
